Quiet Please

We expect a certain amount of peace and quiet from our neighborhoods. Sunday used to be a day or rest. My dad’s factory shut down and stores were closed. Society got away from the idea that we should all pause at the same time. It has nothing to do with religion. I aim to cut my grass, time and weather permitting, on Saturday between 10 am and noon. Maybe I’m too uptight, but think about it. It’s not too early. Your neighbors want to ease into their Saturday and enjoy their coffee for a bit. Everyone has chores and Saturday in the suburbs is the time for them. We wash our cars, clean the garage. But once you get into the afternoon, people are more likely to want to sit by their pools. Guests may start to arrive and late in the afternoon, the barbecue gets fired up. You don’ want to have the lawnmower roaring next door while people are trying to relax. In warmer months, take notice. Open the window or sit outside. If it’s light out, there is probably always someone using some type of equipment which means there is rarely peace and quiet. It’s probably why I get up so early in the morning. It’s a chance to listen to the birds and sit with your thoughts. Something that is so important….
