Author, Illustrator.

Matt is finding that other things are coming up repeatedly with clients and hopes to write another book soon to address those concerns. Stay tuned.

Matt was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario and now lives and works in Ancaster.  He studied Political Science and French at Western University and graduated in 1990.  He began working towards a Masters in Political Theory at Brock University in the early 90’s and completed most of the course work but not a thesis.  By that time, he was well into a career in financial services and gave priority to industry courses and designations.  He became a financial advisor in 2004.

He published When the Picture Changes in 2018.  It was the result of many conversations with clients, mostly women, who suddenly found themselves on their own and who needed help with their finances.  He’s finding that other things are coming up repeatedly with clients and hopes to write another book soon to address those concerns.  Stay tuned.

He drew a number of Oliver the Advisor comics as early as 2014 but never shared them publicly.  He began including them in his blogs in 2021.

In 2021, he also created Cranky Middle Aged Guy as a form of expression, therapy and just to have fun.

Matt has served on many boards and committees in the Hamilton area.  He is proud of his effort to renew Festitalia during his term as Chairman in 2010 and 2011.  He co-founded Cinema Insieme, an Italian film group.  He also conceived of the Around the Bay – St. Joseph’s Healthcare charitable partnership and was part of the group that launched the AGH Film Festival.

A number of years back, he participated in several long-distance races.  But these days he runs short distances regularly on Hamilton’s trails.  It’s part of a self-care routine that includes Transcendental Meditation.  He enjoys growing vegetables in warmer months, is interested in improving his competence in other languages and loves to learn new words and understand their origins.
